If you're after a quick and easy chocolate fix, then try this super simple recipe. It's quicker to whip up than to pick up a bar of chocolate at the supermarket. But the big difference is it's packed full of nutrients and isn't loaded with tonnes of processed sugar like your average store-bought bar.
The two main ingredients are cacao and coconut oil. Cacao powder is processed at lower heat than cocoa so it retains its nutrients. It's got more antioxidants than blueberries, more calcium than cow's milk, it's full of magnesium and iron, and it's a natural anti-depressant. Who knew chocolate could be so good for you!
You can flavour these chocs with whatever you like (my fave is raspberry and pistachio) or enjoy them as straight-up chocolatey chocolate.
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 40g cacao butter
- 15g coconut butter
- 20g raw cacao powder
Warm the butters and the cacao powder in a double boiler.
Pour into moulds and freeze.
