Going green with baking soda - Little Mango Deodorants

I love baking soda and its multitude of uses! Adopting baking soda in just a few areas of your home is an easy and simple way to go natural and lessen the use of chemicals in your home and in your health and beauty.

So here's my top uses for baking soda:

Use it as a facial scrub. Just add a small amount to coconut oil, exfoliate, and rinse off. Your skin will be left feeling soft and smooth.

Kitchen scrub. Sprinkle a bit on your bench tops, scrub and rub off with a damp cloth. It works a treat on stubborn stains and you can add lemon or lavender essential oil for a lovely clean fragrance.

As a natural deodorizer. If you need to clean mattresses or stinky shoes, baking soda will deodorise them with no trouble. Just sprinkle, leave for 15 minutes and the smell will clear right up.

As a shampoo. My husband gets dandruff and eczema in his scalp. After trialing a heap of expensive products, nothing worked except baking soda. He just washes his hair with a soda paste and rinses with apple cider vinegar.

Clean your carpets. Many carpet cleaners contain nasty chemicals that you don't want around your family. Baking soda is a great natural alternative. Just sprinkle, leave for 15 minutes and vacuum off.

Toothpaste and teeth whitener. Baking soda is known to help remove plaque and that's why it's often used in toothpastes. Let it sit on your teeth for 10 minutes once a week and it will help keep them white.
